PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium which has a reduced fluctuation of coefficient of friction regardless of a number of times of use, by coating a coating material containing a pigment, binder and a specific acrylic lubricant onto a supporter and then irradiating the radioactive rays to the supporter to harden the coating material. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant, which contains a molecule chain shown by formulas I, II, etc. [R: alkyl (containing fluorine)] and showing the lubricity plus acrylic double connection, is used. In other words, a coating material containing a pigment [such as gamma-Fe2O3 (when applied to a magnetic layer), the carbon black (when applied to a back coat layer)], a binder (such as vinyl chloridevinyl acetate copolymer, polyurethane, etc.) and the above-mentioned lubricant is applied on a supporter. Then the ionizing radioactive rays of >= about 100kV energy of irradiation are irradiated on the supporter by about 1-10M rad to harden the coating material. |
