<p>A handle 1 for a hand tool 3 comprises an elongate grip portion having a reception hole 12 extending from one end which accommodates the shank 31 of the hand tool. Further hollows extend from the other end of the handle to accommodate legs 22,23 of an air bag 2. The two legs are interconnected by means of a hollow body 21 having a projecting block 24. When assembled the air bag portions reside between the shank and the hand grip to provide shock absorbing means. The air bag may locate in the hand grip with the body 21 engaging in an annular recess 14 in the hand grip, in the absence of a projecting block. The air bag may take the form of a cylindrical bag defined by an outer surface (2', fig 5) and an inner surface (25', fig 5) corresponding to the shape of shank 31. The air bag may be formed integrally with the hand grip. The hand tool may take the form of a hand hammer.</p> |
