PURPOSE:To reduce the diameter of the rotor of an ultrasonic motor so as to obtain a small-sized motor having a large torque by constituting a torsional and vertical vibrators in such a way that their one ends are fixed and the rotor is put between the other ends of the vibrators, with the rotor being in press-contact with the other ends. CONSTITUTION:This ultrasonic motor is constituted in such a way that one ends of a piezo-electric torsional vibrator 7 and piezo-electric vertical vibrator 9 are respectively fixed to fixing bases 11 and 12 and the other ends of the vibrators 7 and 9 are faced to each other, with a rotor 13 supported in a freely rotatable state being put between the other ends of the vibrators 7 and 9 in a press-contact state. When the length of the vibrator 9 is elongated synchronously to the displacement of torsional vibrations, the rotor 13 rotates in the direction of torsional displacement between the two vibrators. Since the torsional vibrations of the vibrators 7 and 9 independent from each other, the vibrating amplitudes of both torsional vibrations and vertical vibrations become larger. |
