PURPOSE:To obtain excellent color separability and coating aptitude by providing an intermediate layer based on gelatin or a gelatin derivative between a plurality of thermal recording layers. CONSTITUTION:Gelatin or a gelatin derivative is used as the material of the intermediate layer of a thermal recording material wherein thermal color forming layers are laminated in a multilayer form. Since a high concn. gelatin solution has good coating aptitude when it is held to proper temp. (30 deg.C or higher), when gelatin is applied as the main binder of the respective thermal recording layers and subsequently cooled by cooling air, the coating layer is gelled and dried in this gelled state to obtain a coated article having layered constitution generating no mixing of the respective layers. In this case, the wt. ratio of gelatin in the binder (water-soluble polymer) is set to 50% or more, pref., 65% or more. When a thermal recording layer contains an electron donating dye precursor and an acidic substance as thermal color forming components, either one of both components is melted by heating and both of them are reacted to form a color. |
