The cupboard or similar furniture article has a door (1) hinged through 180 deg., and secured by one hinge half near the end face (3) of the cupboard wall (2), so that the hinge axis (32) is in front of the latter. The wall half (10) of the hinge protrudes towards the door and is coupled by a hinge pin (13) to the door hinge half (11). The door hinge half is countersunk in the door end face so that the hinge pin is inside the door. The door hinge half is pref. U-shaped, fitting over the ends of the wall hinge half.
