The blocking device detects an identification at the beginning and end of the advertisment, to operate a switch allowing the tone or video signal to be switched out and back in, or allowing the radio or television receiver to be switched to a different station for the duration of the advertisments. Pref. the identification is in the form of a given melody detected by a pattern recognition device. ADVANTAGE - Prevents user having to listen to, or watch, unwanted advertisments.
