PURPOSE:To obtain the title paddy seedlings highly resistant to such adverse effect as drought or flooding, low in the lower temperature limit for viable root-taking, much in seeding quantity for seedling boxes, and causing no defective stocks in transplanting, by raising seedling to a specified age in an inorganic fiber-formed medium. CONSTITUTION:An irrigated inorganic fiber-formed medium (e.g. made of rock wool) is seeded with seed unhulled rice and covered with soil followed by raising seedling to an age of 1.1 - 1.9 by such a system as to count from the leaf next to the sheathed leaf, thus obtaining the objective paddy seedlings. The present method will shorten raising seedling period as well as facilitate their growth, thus making rice cropping planning easier. |
