The carton is made from paper- or similar material coated with plastic for waterproofing. The seam weld has a simple overlap, with the inner edge covered by the U-shaped plastics strip (7) and sealed each side to the layer. The U-strip is applied leaving a small airspace (33) for flexibility. The container is shaped into the closed tube and the seam weld applied. The ends of the container are folded over and secured.
