The head-up display comprises a sensor (1) for a defined vehicle operating parameter and a digital display device (18) which reacts to the sensor signal by projecting a digital image onto the vehicle windscreen. An analogue display device (16) contains a pointer which can indicate selected display values on a scale plate. A further device (13) enables the digital display to show the same values as are displayed by the analogue display device. ADVANTAGE - Ensures that digital speed indication in head-up display coincides at all times with value shown by analogue display device.
