The gas scrubbing system has a dry separator to remove large dust partic. and a fluid coated electrode system to remove small partic. electrostatically. The electrodes (3) are fitted along their top edges with pipes (29) through which the coating fluid is pumped. Lines of holes (30) along the top of each pipe spread the fluid film to either side of the electrode. The hole dia. is 8 to 12 mm, with a spacing of 20 to 40 mm. The ID of the pipe is 60 to 140 mm with a flowrate ogf 40 to 80 cu.m./hr. Plates (31) attached tangential to each side of the pipe guide the fluid films to each side of the electrode pattern.
