PROPHYLACTIC AND THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS OF PEROXIDASES

Prophylactic and therapeutic applications of peroxidases for the manufacture of medicaments for the prevention and treatment of enveloped virus infections and, in particular, of herpes simplex and human immunodeficiency virus infections. The medicaments include a peroxidase, a substrate and a peroxide in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Peroxidases of the medicaments include lactoperoxidase and myeloperoxidase. The medicaments are formulated with pharmaceutically acceptable carriers for topical, oral and injectable administration to individuals in need thereof.
