The ball joint head for a tripod has a housing contg. an articulated ball which is provided with a camera support plate (3). Beneath the support plate there is a fixing plate (14) which is provided with a press button (16) and which can be displaced against spring force (21). The fixing plate has a nose (14a) detachably engaging with a recess (13a) in an inclined part (13) mounted on the housing. The nose and/or recess are pref. wedged shaped. USE/ADVANTAGE - Two and three dimensional movement of ball joint head on tripod is now possible.
