Disclosed is a cartridge chamber for caseless cartridges (3), with a cartridge-accommodating space (2) whose volume is greater than that of the propellant charge body (5) of the cartridge (3). Aligning elements (6, 7) for the cartridge (3), disposed a certain longitudinal distance apart, each have a front abutment surface (8) and a circumferential abutment surface (9) the abutment surfaces of each aligning element holding one end zone of the propellant charge body (5).
