DRUG FOR ANIMAL

PURPOSE:To provide an animal drug containing Enterococcus faecalis or Lactobacillus salivarius and beer yeast, effective in promoting the proliferation of the above microorganism and having improved growth-promotive action, and preventive and therapeutic effect on intestinal diseases of animal. CONSTITUTION:The objective drug contains (A)>=10<7> cells (based on 10g of the drug) of at least one kind of Enterococcus faecalis or Lactobacillus salivarius and (B) 40-90wt.% (based on the drug) of at least one kind of alfalfa or beer yeast. The proliferation of the above microorganism can be promoted and the microbial cells can be produced in high concentration and/or in a short time by compounding a culture medium for the microorganism with at least one kind of alfalfa extract and/or beer yeast extract. The drug is preferably administered at a rate of 10-200mg/kg daily (in terms of dried drug) for 3 days to 1 month.
