PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition improved in heavy metal resistance by mixing a composition comprising a polyolefin and Mg(OH)2 with a specified phenolic compound, a thioether compound, a heavy metal inactivator and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. composition comprising a polyolefin (e.g. PE) and 30-70wt.% Mg(OH)2 of a mean particle diameter of 0.1-10mum is mixed with 0.01-1 pt.wt. phenolic compounds of formulas I and/or II (wherein R1 and R2 are each 1-8C alkyl; R3 is H or R1; R4 is 1-4C alkylidene; R5 is 1-9C alkyl; R6 is H, R5, cycloalkyl or alkylcyclohexyl; and (n) is 1-6), 0.01-1 pt.wt. thioether compound of formula III (wherein R7 is 8-28C alkyl; and R8 is 2-3C alkylene), 0.01-1 pt.wt. heavy metal inactivator (e.g. oxalic acid bis(benzylidenehydrazide)], 0.01-1 pt.wt. epoxy compound of an epoxy equivalent of 100-1000 (e.g. epoxidized soybean oil) and optionally 0.5-5 pts.wt. fatty acid (e.g. acetic acid), and the mixture is melt-kneaded at 150-300 deg.C. |
