The circuit converts character codes to font images in a PC FAX. The circuit includes an address generating section, a text buffer, a CG ROM, and a line buffer. The address generating section sequentially counts incoming clocks to generate first and second count signals. The text buffer stores character codes, and outputs the relevant character codes in accordance with the first count signals. The CG ROM outputs the relevant font images, and the line buffer sequentially stores the output of the CG ROM, using the second count signals as the upper address and the first count signals as the lower address.
