Ships with conventional screw propellers have limited maneuverability and must put up with a possible thrust reduction due to the turbulence caused in the water by the rotation of the screw. The body of the ship is steered by a more or less costly rudder mechanism. The disclosed screw propeller has characteristics that allow a higher thrusting power to be obtained and a substantially improved maneuverability in comparison to state of the art helms, up to a lateral movement of the ship. The speed of screws arranged right and left of the body of the ship can be independently controlled or synchronized. In order to protect the screws and other parts located in the water, the screws may be housed in a cardan tube.
