The monoazo compounds disclosed have fibre-reactive groups and useful dyeing characteristics. They are capable of dyeing materials containing hydroxy and/or carbonamide groups, in particular fibrous materials such as cellulose fibres, and synthetic and natural polyamides, such as wool, to give intense, colour-fast dyeings. The compounds have general formula (1): in which Me is hydrogen or an alkali metal; K is a group of general formula (2): in which Me is as defined above and n is zero or 1 (the group to which n relates being hydrogen when n is zero); D is a group of general formula (3a), (3b) or (3c): in which Me is as defined above, R<1> is hydrogen, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 C-atoms (which may be substituted by sulphonyl, carboxy or sulphato), an alkoxy group with 1 to 4 C-atoms (which may be substituted by sulphonyl, carboxy or sulphato), chlorine, bromine, hydroxy, cyano, carboxy or sulphonyl, R<2> is hydrogen, an alkyl or alkoxy group with 1 to 4 C-atoms, Y is a vinyl group or an ethyl group with a substituent in the beta -position which can be eliminated by alkali to form a vinyl group, and m is zero, 1 or 2 (the group to which m relates being hydrogen when m is zero). |
