Copolymer soln. for use in reaction and stoving lacquers

Copolymer soln. contains (A) an inert organic solvent with b.pt. 75-200 degrees C, (B) the addn. prod. of an alpha,beta-unsatd. mono-carboxylic acid and a glycidyl cpd., opt.contg. unreacted components or by-prods. and (C) >=1 further vinyl cpd.Used in reaction lacquers by crosslinking with polisocyanates, or in storing lacquers by crosslinking with amino resins. The solns are colourless and clear, giving films which are speck-free and do not yellow even in presence of catalyst. Prepn. is relatively insensitive to reaction conditions and unwanted side reactions are avoided.Reaction time is reduced and the process can be carried out in a single vessel. Films obtd. are non-tacky, water-resistant and elastic
