The pipe of hardening material is connected to others by enclosing sleeves with seals on the inside. The sleeve is a non-metallic moulding of material having roughly the same coefft.t of heat-expansion as that of the pipe, and has seals at both ends. It can be of fibre-reinforced epoxy resin, and recesses for the seals can be formed in it. External reinforcing rings can be anchored in the pipe material at the ends, the seals bearing against their outside surfaces.
