The height-adjustable dentist's work-chair has a gas-spring (4) and a foot-operated control (14) operating a control-valve for the gas spring (4). The control (14) beneath the moving carriage (9) has several protuberances or segments (18) extending upwards into the free spaces (13) between two adjacent arms (10) of the travelling frame (9). The control (14) is in the form of a coaxial annular disc moving freely on a support disc (21) on the outside of the upright (6). The annular disc has a contact cam (16) in contact with the plunger (17) of the control valve. ADVANTAGE - The work-chair can be easily, securely, accurately and comfortably adapted to different sitting positions by foot action.
