Process for prepn. of catalytically active mixed phases from precursors contg. the elements required comprises: (i) applying precursors in a soln. or suspension to heated surfaces of moving heat carrier particles; (ii) depositing and decomposing the precursors with vaporisation of the solvent; (iii) removing the mixed phase formed from the heat carrier particles; and (iv) size-reducing themixed phase.
