When producing a wrapping tape of non-rectangular cross-section form plastic resistant to high temperatures and capable to sintering, the plastic material is molded by extrusion of paste thereof and by subsequent rolling an extruded cord to form a material strip /1/. The material strip /1/ with width being at least the double of the finished wrapping tape required width is continuously cut in longitudinal direction by a pressure cutter and at the same time the strip edge regions being formed non both sides of the cut plane are molded to a permanent taper. The apparatus for making the above-described tape manufacturing process has a pressure guide surface for the material strip /1/, as well as one or more pressure cutters being arranged on the material strip /1/ side turned away from the guide surface.
