Drive motor for building elevator with its motor axis at angle to vertical

A drive motor for an elevator includes a motor 1 driving a worm shaft 19 which in turn drives worm wheel 27 attached to a sheave. The motor axis is at an angle b to the vertical. This means that the motor case does not protrude beyond the side 2 of the drive housing. A brake drum 5 is mounted on the motor shaft between the motor and the worm shaft. This arrangement allows the motor to be removed while the brake is still applied.
