PURPOSE:To continuously produce the subject ball having high bulk density with decreased breakage of fiber even from a fragile short fibers by gyrating raw fibers with air stream and further gyrating the obtained fiber block to compact the block in spherical form. CONSTITUTION:Raw fibers are supplied to a tube wound in the form of a coil and gyrated together with air stream. The fiber block discharged from the outlet of the tube is gyrated together with air stream along the wall surface of a cylindrical or conical vessel. The fiber block is formed and compacted by the centrifugal force to obtain the objective ball having spherical form. Preferably, inner diameter of the coiled tube is >=3 times the average diameter d (m) of the fiber ball and the length L (m) satisfies the formula L>=(S/d)<1/2> [S is winding diameter of the coil (m)]. |
