PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device for tracking a center of the track to be recorded in the recording operation and for tracking a center of adjacent both side tracks in the reproducing operation to reduce the crosstalk, even if spaces with the adjacent tracks become ununiform at left and right. SOLUTION: In a recording medium, 1st control area 17 and a 2nd control are 18 for detecting the tracking error are provided at the positions of a given rotational angle on each track, and a control mark for tracking is arranged on only the 1st control area 17 for the odd numbered tracks, and for the even numbered tracks, the control mark is arranged on only the 2nd control area 18, then the tracking control on the low frequency range in the control band is made by a wobble mark on the track in recording and by a crosstalk signal of the control mark on the adjacent track in reproducing, and on the high frequency range in the control band, the control is made in accordance with the tracking error detected in the all of 1st and 2nd control areas. |
