PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a certified personal recognition card from being used without certification while using a public key cryptosystem. SOLUTION: A password, which is not secret, is enciphered into digital signature while using the personal key of a key pair in a public key cryptosystem. Next, a password 20 and the digital signature are encoded and stored in the magnetic strip of a card or any other storage device. When executing a transaction, it is necessary to show the digital signature of the received card is generated from the password 20 of the received card. It is suitable the password 20 contains the digital photograph of a certified card owner so as to be displayed on a transaction terminal. Thus, the operator of the transaction terminal can confirm the identification of the card owner with a visual examination. |
