PURPOSE:To form a high-definition image by forming a laten image by one line each time phase-switching is carried out in such a manner that the phase is an integer multiple of the number of the phases of a stepping motor. CONSTITUTION:This image forming device is provided with the m-phase stepping motor 1, a driving means 19, and forming means 21, 23, 27, and 29. The stepping motor 1 rotates and drives an image carrier 5; the driving means 19 drives the stepping motor 1 by the phase excitation system which switches the phase of the stepping motor 1; and the forming means 21, 23, 27, and 29 form a latent image for one line onto the image carrier 5 every time phase switching is carried out by the driving means 19 in such a manner that an integer multiple of the number (m) of phases of the stepping motor 1 is >= 2. Therefore, even when irregularity in rotation is caused in the stepping motor 1 at every phase, the latent image by one line is formed at every cycle of the speed-change inherent in the stepping motor 1. Consequently, the pitch of each line is made equal. Thus, density-irregularity and color slippage are reduced and a high-definition image can be formed. |
