PURPOSE:To always maintain a constant image density and to obtain a high- density and high-quality image by specifying an angle formed by the contact line of a toner carrier and a toner supplying member and a vertical direction. CONSTITUTION:A toner carrier roller 1 is constituted so that an elastic body layer 3 and a conductive layer 4 are provided on the outer periphery of a metal lic shaft 2 in that order, and rotated counterclockwise. On the other hand, toner is supplied on the face of the toner carrier roller 1 by a stirrer 7 and a toner supplying roller 8, and a toner thin layer 10 having a uniform thickness is formed by the regulating action of a toner layer forming member 9. At this time, the angle theta formed by the contact line of the toner carrier roller 1 and the toner supplying roller 8 and the vertical direction is set within the range of -10 deg < theta < 120 deg, when the vertical direction is defined as a reference and a toner layer forming member direction is defined to be positive. Thus, even if the toner is consumed a lot, the toner of a prescribed quantity is quickly stuck to the face of the toner carrier, the constant image density can be always maintained, and the high-definition and high-quality image can be obtained. |
