发明名称 SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting magnet for a high magnetic field wound which a compound superconducting wire is wound directly by axially applying compressive force to remove axial gaps made between the superconducting wires when the superconducting wire is wound through fixed and movable flanges. CONSTITUTION:A superconducting magnet consists of a non-magnetic spool 2, a non-magnetic movable flange 3A and a non-magnetic fixed flange 3B at both ends thereof, and a superconducting coil 1 including a compound superconducting wire 1A wound around the spool 2. The non-magnetic spool 2 is made of stainless steel or aluminum and its percentage of thermal contraction is 0.31% (when made of stainless steel) or 0.42% (when made of aluminum) at room temperature to a very low temperature of 4.2K. The percentage of thermal contraction of the compound superconducting wire is 0.3% at that temperature. Normally, a superconducting magnet is cooled to a very low temperature of about 4.2K, the temperature of liquid helium, when used, and gaps are made in the direction of the radius of a superconducting coil between a spool and the superconducting coil when cooled because the percentage of thermal contraction of the cooled spool is higher than that of the cooled compound superconducting wire. However, in this invention, winding tension to compensate for the difference in percentage of thermal contraction is applied to the compound superconducting wire when the superconducting coil is made, therefore, no gap is made between the spool and the superconducting coil radially when cooled.
