SECONDARY EXCITATION DIELECTRIC WAVEGUIDE SENSOR AND ITS USE IN IMMUNOASSAYS

The present invention comprises a novel doped dielectric waveguide structure that is useful in spectrophotometric assays of analytes in fluid. The dielectric waveguide has a specifically doped core having several concentric core layers. The core is doped with a compound which can interact with a primary signal radiation from an analyte in solution so as to form an amplified secondary signal radiation.
