PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a gas oil composition having <=0.05 wt.% total sulfur content, having excellent lubricating performances at a low cost. SOLUTION: In this gas oil composition formulated with 0.01 vol.% of a catalytic cracking gas oil and 20-200 wt.ppm of a lubrication improver in a gas oil base oil, having <=0.05 wt.% total sulfur content, the gas oil composition is characterized in that the catalytic cracking gas oil comprises (1) >=25 vol.% of a bicyclic or polycyclic aromatic compound and (2) >=5 vol.% of a tricyclic or polycyclic aromatic compound.
