The chain link comprises two link bodies each fitted with a link pad, locked in by a spreadable attachment spread by a brace element to lock against corresponding surfaces on the link body. The attachment is moulded in to the pad and forms inward facing ledges at each side of the pad. These ledges grip behind outward facing ledges on the link body which form guide rails. To remove the pad from the body, the brace element is pushed through into a hollow inside the link body freeing the pad to be slid off. This method suppresses vibration and cuts down running noise.
