<p>PURPOSE:To miniaturize the element and to enhance the efficiency be a method where in a heat-generating element is made to be equipped with a switching function that varies in resistivity in accordance with image data. Gate electrodes are connected respectively to each of output terminals of driving circuit sections prepared respectively, corresponding to each of bits. In the case where image data are for black (for coloring), a voltage that makes the switching element switched on is applied from the driving circuit section 20 to the gate electrodes of the switching element. As the constant voltage VHD is being applied at this time between the opposite ends (between the source and the drain) of the element, the electric current flows to the element, and thereby the heat in VHD X Id is generated. In the case where the image data are for white (for not coloring), a voltage that makes the switching element switched off is applied from the driving circuit section to the gate electrodes of the switching element.
