PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents check method capable of enhancing security by preventing contents from being accessed illicitly in a system in which contents such as a program or data are stored in an external memory. SOLUTION: External contents stored in the external memory include original check result information expressing a check result when the external contents are justifiable and original check result position information showing the storage position of the original check result information. Then the external contents stored in the external memory, is checked to obtain the check result, and the obtained check result is collated with the check result based on the original check result information stored in the storage position shown by the original check result position information to judge the justice of the external contents.
