PURPOSE:To easily obtain an optical element having chamfered part by forming a ring-shaped transfer part on the circumference of a transfer face of a forming mold and forming an optical function face to form a chamfered part simultaneous with the press forming. CONSTITUTION:A lower mold 22 and an upper mold 24 are put into a body mold 20 for forming. Transfer faces 24a, 22a are formed on the opposite faces of the upper and lower molds 24, 22 to form optical function faces of an optical element. In the above apparatus, ring-shaped transfer parts 22b, 24b are formed on the outer circumference of the transfer faces 22a, 24a to form the chamfered part on the optical element. An optical element having chamfered part can easily be produced by this process.
