PURPOSE:To efficiently solidify carbon dioxide and make it possible to arbitrarily change pellet form of a solid carbon dioxide by closing the lower end port of a freezing tube provided in the bottom of a cooling tank and horizontally cutting the formed solid carbon dioxide. CONSTITUTION:Carbon dioxide fed to a cooling tank 1 is subjected to primary cooling by LNG, etc., introduced into a cooling coil 4 and then subjected to secondary cooling in a freezing tube 2 to solidify the carbon dioxide. When the carbon dioxide is solidified, freezing degree of carbon dioxide is controlled by controlling flow rate of LNG which is allowed to flow into a jacket tube of the freezing tube 2. When the solid carbon dioxide is frozen to prescribed extent, a closing means 8 is lowered to a height which does not hinder horizontal operation of cutting means 10. Solid carbon dioxide in the freezing tube 2 is gradually pushed out by pressure in the cooling tank 1. When the solid carbon dioxide is pushed out in prescribed length, the cutting means 10 is horizontally operated to cut the solid carbon dioxide into a pellet form. |
