PURPOSE:To regulate the temperature of an ink upon its discharge rapidly to a preset value without increasing electric power consumption by providing, as an ink temperature control means, an initial control means for controlling an exothermic body at the start of recording and a temperature maintenance and control means for controlling the exothermic body according to ambient temperature. CONSTITUTION:As an ink temperature control means for controlling the temperature of the ink immediately before its discharge by controlling an exothermic body 21 provided near a liquid passage 19 of a recording head 2, there are provided an initial control means for controlling the aforesaid exothermic body 21 at the start of recording and a temperature maintenance and control means for controlling the aforesaid exothermic body 21 according to ambient temperature. The temperature maintenance and control means controls the exothermic body 21 when the temperature drops by detecting the ink temperature after the turning action of a plurality of pages in a continuous recording thereof. Since the operation of a temperature maintaining heater 21 provided near the liquid passage 19 is also controlled upon reception of recording start information at the time of the initial action and after the page turning actions, the temperature of the ink immediately before the start of its discharge can be regulated rapidly to a suitable value for the ink discharge. |
