PURPOSE:To make a life test of a storage battery for vehicle conforming to the conditions of an actual vehicle by changing the ratio of the quantity of charging electricity to the quantity of discharging electricity at the charging-discharging portion of the preceding stage so that the depth of discharge at the charging-discharging portion can be changed. CONSTITUTION:A life test method consists of a charging-discharging portion where discharging with a constant current in minutes and charging with a constant voltage in minutes are repeated, and a constant voltage charging portion where charging with a constant voltage in hours follows that charging-discharging portion so that the ratio of the quantity of charging electricity to the quantity of discharging electricity in the charging-discharging portion on the preceding stage can be changed and resultantly the depth of discharge at the charging- discharging portion can be changed, too. That is, when the ratio of charging to discharging in hours and the number of repeats thereof at the charging-discharging portion in minutes at the preceding stage are changed so as to change the ratio of the quantity of charging electricity to the quantity of discharging electricity, it is possible to easily make a test according to such purposes as a life test in a case where the depth of discharge is increased or where the depth of discharge is decreased, and a life test where a condition of an increased depth of discharge or a decreased depth of discharge is automatically and continuously carried out. It is thereby possible to simulate charging discharging currents which flow into the battery of an actual vehicle. |
