摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To get rid of any wastage in clamping force as well as to improve the extent of efficiency in making such an energy as producing this clamping force, by constituting it to adjust the clamping force of a frictional element so as to make a slip in this frictional element come to a small value as little as ignorable in practice. CONSTITUTION:An automatic transmission selects a corresponding shift speed by clamping a frictional element. At this time, a clamping force control means adjusts the extent of clamping force on the frictional element so as to make a slip of this element detected by a slip detecting means come to a small value as little as ignorable in practice. Consequently it controls the frictional element so as to avoid such a possibility that its clamping force might cause overs or shorts, so that if a safety factor is not put on the clamping force, any slip as posing a problem is in no case incurred. Therefore there is no wastage in the clamping force, and energy for producing this clamping force, for example, pump driving energy for the automatic transmission is set down to the irreducible minimum, thus the extent of efficiency is improvable.</p>
