PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent double loading of more compact and secure cartridges for recording medium by providing a rotary shutter mechanism, to a reproducing apparatus for the cartridge housed recording medium. SOLUTION: The reproducing apparatus is characterized in that the rotary shutter is provided at the loading port for inserting the cartridge housed recording medium, which enables/prevents insertion of the cartridge housed recording medium from the loading port, by its rotation in a plane perpendicular to the direction of inserting the cartridge housed recording medium.
