The device comprises compartments (at least 2) without communication with each other and with separate and adjustable orifices. In the case of a two-compartment device (Figure 1) and in the case of two incompatible products, compartment C1 receives, for example, trichloroisocyanuric acid granules retained by a grid, compartment C2 the other product, for example a concentrated quaternary ammonium. On immersion, water enters compartment C1 and emerges from it chlorinated. The quaternary ammonium, less dense than water, escapes from compartment C2. The two products become diluted and consequently compatible. The compartments can also be employed for releasing products which are compatible but which have different solubilities.
