A ceramic-metal insert composite is composed of a ceramic (18) and a low-expansion cast iron (3) bonded thereto by insert casting. The ceramic-metal insert composite may have further an aluminum alloy (12) bonded by insert casting to the low-expansion cast iron (3). The ceramic-metal insert composite suffers low stress in the ceramic at the room temperature and can be produced by a simple process at a low cost. <IMAGE>
