PURPOSE:To simplify the manufacturing method and improve the service life of the battery by finely pulverizing a hydrogen-storage alloy in an alkaline solution. CONSTITUTION:MnNi3.55Mn0.4Al0.3Co0.75 is used as a hydrogen-storage alloy and Mm which is a mixture of rare earth elements, Ni, Mn, Al, and Co are put in an arc-melting furnace and after the furnace is made vacuum at 10<-4>-10<-5> torr pressure, arc-discharge is carried out in argon atmosphere (under reduced pressure) to melt the metals. Then, heat treatment of the resulting alloy is carried out in vacuum and the alloy powder after rough pulverization is finely pulverized by a ball mill in an alkaline solution with 1.20-1.40 specific gravity and kept at 20-100 deg.C to carry out fine pulverization and alkaline treatment simultaneously and a hydrogen-absorbing alloy electrode is obtained using the resultant alloy powder. In this way, simple manufacturing method is obtained and the service life of a battery is improved. |
