A method for detecting the presence of a saucepan on a glass ceramic cooking hob in correspondence with a usual heating element associated with said hob consists of measuring the variation in a physical characteristic of current conductive means positioned between the heating element and the hob plate of the glass ceramic cooking hob caused by a body or saucepan placed on said hob, the variation being evaluated by control means which, on the basis thereof, act on the heating element to change its operating parameters. A device for implementing the aforesaid method comprises at least one electrical resistive element positioned between the heating element and the hob plate of the cooking hob, and means for evaluating the energy dissipated within said resistive element due to the presence of a saucepan placed on the hob plate above the heating element, said means being connected to a member controlling the heating element. <IMAGE> |
