PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer useful as a toner for electrophotography, having excellent low temperature fixing properties and blocking resistance, having dithiocarbamate bond at the ends, comprising a polymer block of a styrene-based monomer, an acrylic ester and a maleic acid. CONSTITUTION:A styrene-based monomer, a (meth)acrylic ester, a maleic acid and an N,N-disubstituted dithiocarbamate are irradiated with ultraviolet light in a solvent and polymerized to form a polymer which is used as a photopolymerization initiator, and photopolymerization is carried out to give a block copolymer comprising a copolymer shown by formula I {M is block copolymer part shown by formula II [M<1> is polymer constituent unit of (A) 75-100wt.% styrene-based monomer, methyl methacrylate, etc., and (B) 0-25wt.% (meth) acrylic alkyl ester; M<2> is polymer constituent unit of 30-70wt.% component A and 30-70wt.% component B; M<1> and M<2> contain 1-15wt.% maleic acid (mono- or dialkyl ester or anhydride) as M<3>; (n) is 20-200; (m) is 15-190] and formula III; R<1> is 1-10C hydrocarbon; R<2> is H or 1-10C hydrocarbon; R<3> is benzyl, etc.}. |
