PURPOSE:To shorten calculation time to one half by defining an exponent data in a non-normalized number as '1' and transmitting it to an exponent addition/ substraction part when one of the input numerical values is the non-normalized number and the other is an unnormal number. CONSTITUTION:An attribute decision circuit 21 is provided to decide the attribute of number divided into the normalization number, non-normalization number, and unnormal number, etc., as for the input numerical value. A selective circuit 20a is provided to select '1' without selecting the exponent data in the input numerical value shown by the non-normalized number based on an attribute signal supplied by the attribute decision circuit 21 and to transmit the selected value to an exponent addition/subtraction part 2 when either of the input numerical values is the non-normalized number, and the other is the unnormal number. Therefore, the exponent data in the two input numerical values supplied by the exponent addition/subtraction part 2 can be directly calculated with addition/ subtraction. Thus, the calculation time can be shortened. |
