<p>PURPOSE:To join two molded thermoplastic elastomer items favorably, by preheating ends of the molded items to be joined with the ends spaced away from each other in split molds, and injecting an elastomer into the space in the split molds followed by curing of the elastomer. CONSTITUTION:The molded thermoplastic elastomer items (extrudates of ethylene- alpha-olefine copolymer rubber or the like) to be joined are loaded within through- holes 16a, 16b of the split molds 6, 8, and the end faces of both the molded items are aligned with lines 18a, 18b. Then after the end faces to be joined are preheated by a heater 21, the heater 21 is removed from the split molds, the movable split mold 8 is moved to close the split molds 6, 8, and then into the space defined by the lines 18a, 18b within the split molds is injected a prescribed thermoplastic elastomer from a nozzle 24 to join the molded items.</p> |
