PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method by which an image deletion due to water absorption can be more reliably prevented without complexing an apparatus while prolonging the service life of an amorphous silicon photoreceptor without intentionally grinding the surface of the photoreceptor or by reducing grinding amount even when the surface is ground, and to provide an image forming apparatus for implementing the method. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, a toner containing toner particles whose saturated water content in an environment at 35°C and 85% relative humidity is 0.7-2.1 wt.% is used and image formation is performed while removing water adsorbed on a surface of an amorphous silicon photoreceptor by water absorption by the toner particles. The image forming apparatus has a water absorption mode by which water is absorbed by carrying out an operation, for a specified time, in which the above toner is supplied from a developing device 4 to a surface of an amorphous silicon photoreceptor 1 and recovered by a cleaning device 6.
