PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy in controlling a vehicle speed. SOLUTION: This vehicle speed control system comprises a location detecting section 5A for detecting a vehicle location, a speed control signal forming section 7 for outputting a predetermined limiting speed corresponding to the vehicle location, a speed detector 8A for detecting a vehicle speed, a first speed control unit 10 for performing deceleration control on the vehicle based on the limiting speed and the vehicle speed, a second speed control unit 11 for performing fixed position stopping control on the vehicle, a control switch 9A for comparing an prescribed speed with the vehicle speed and changing over the first speed control unit 10 and the second speed control unit 11 on the results of the comparison, and a notch selection outputting section 13 for outputting the maximum braking command among breaking commands to a brake control system.
